What are the differences between the prices of websites in Slovenia and abroad?

We’ve already talked about realistic website prices and how the differences between minimum and maximum prices can be very large. And explained that the final price is influenced by various factors such as hosting, whether you want a presentation site or a shop, a static or dynamic site, the number of pages, the complexity of the design, the maintenance requirements… In short – the client’s wishes.

Due to the different economic and business conditions of countries, website prices vary from country to country. So a programmer in one part of the world can charge twice, three times or even ten times more than his counterpart in the other part for exactly the same work. In which country does it cost the least to build a website? And where does it cost the most? We decided to answer these questions and compare the cost of building a website between the USA, Germany and Slovenia.

In Slovenia, most providers offer a ‘basic package’, where the customer pays between €200 – €300 for a simple page up to a maximum of 6 pages, depending on the provider. The more complex the page, the more expensive it is. Everything up to somewhere up to 3,000 euros. Which means that on average a Slovenian programmer produces websites for 25 euros/hour. When it comes to shops, the prices almost double. The prices for both websites and online shops are also higher when the work is done by agencies.

In Germany, prices increase slightly, with a customer paying an average of €500 for a simple page, and prices ranging up to €15,000 on average. So again, it depends on the complexity of the website. A German programmer earns an average of €40/hour, while agencies do the same job for an average of €70/hour.

What about the US? Prices increase slightly, with a client paying between €2,000 – 8,000 for a simple site, €10,000 – 35,000 for a larger site and €5,000 – 55,000 for an online shop. In the US, as elsewhere, agencies charge almost twice as much for the same work.

We can quickly see that of the countries selected, Slovenia is the country where programmers earn the least and the USA is the country where they earn the most. Could this mean that it is time to move?
